True Talent – Lisa Lavie

December 10, 2008

Sometimes not being perfect is itself perfection. With a song some of the best performances are those where the emotion of the singer really connects with the emotion of the song

In the following video I think Lisa’s rawness and emotion really makes this performance. To quote Lisa “I had laryngitis that night and I was so tired and emotional drained”. This performance of one of my favourite songs gave me goosebumps and made me tear up thinking of people who I have lost. It makes me thankful that true talent like Lisa still exists.

Good Music

May 22, 2008

Ok I originally had part of this in a previous post but I thought it deserved its own post.

This week I have purchased 2 albums which while being different are both consistently great.

Lisa Lavie

Last week Lisa Lavie released her debut CD “Everything or Nothing” on Itunes. I would encourage everybody to have a listen and if you like you should buy the CD from iTunes as I have.  Every track is quality and highlights Lisa’s talent not only as a singer but as a songwriter. Do yourself a favour and check  the CD out. Check out the video below.

Gabriella Cilmi

The second album I purchased this week was young (16 years old) Australian artist Gabriella Cilmi. Called  “Lessons to be Learned”. This cd has a definite 70s feel and like Lisa’s CD is absolute quality. Check out the video from her first single “Sweet about Me” below.

I can highly recommend both CDs.

Microsoft – The Good and the Bad

January 25, 2008

The Bad – Vista Information  or lack there of.

As I have mentioned before on this blog I have had trouble getting a straight answer out of Microsoft  regarding Windows Anytime Upgrade being available in Australia. Nobody at Microsoft will give me an answer while  other than a cookie cutter answer that basically says nothing constructive. How hard can it be to give a straight normal answer ? Obviously to hard for anybody at Microsoft associated with Vista. It frustrates me no end having to deal with this bullshit  from the Vista team.  From my dealings with the Vista team/MS Support it is obvious unless you are a corporate the Vista team really care for the individual user.

The Good – Visual Studio  2005/8

When the previous version of VS (2005) was released I was keen to try it and the Standard Edition fit my bill. I was keen to try this and when to the Trial download page and every version was there for trial except standard. I contacted the VS team and was offered a free copy of VS 2005 standard which I gladly took. I ended up using the product so  I actually purchased a copy even though the version they sent me was a full version. I felt it was the right thing to do as they had gone out of their way to get me trial.

Well recently 2008 was released and again the exact same situation with the trials. Again I contacted the VS team and again they responded with a offer of a free version which I accepted again. There was no cookie cutter answers just clear concise answers to the question I asked .

To the VS team I say thank you and to the Vista team I say thank you for nothing except frustrations.

Lisa Lavie is someone who I have been listening too for a few months now. Fantastic person so genuine and so talented. If you like R & B or just appreciate talent I recommend you have a listen to a true star.
